Bridge over troubled water

When they say ‘the grass looks greener on the other side’ that’s the feeling the people of Minster on Sea have been having for a number of months now. As a result of the timber pedestrian bridge which provides access to and from the country park in Sheerness being condemned, local residents have been faced with a diversion of over a kilometre.

The condemned bridge has now been removed and we have stepped in and provided a temporary pontoon bridge crossing the 25-metre wide ditch. In order to ensure the pontoon is as secure and stable as possible, the pontoon has been dug into a recess in the ditch to make sure it has a level and safe entrance and exit area.

The pontoon has been fitted with Combisafe edge protection on all exposed edges and at 2 metres wide the pontoon is plenty wide enough to accommodate pedestrians passing each other.

This bridge has helped make people’s journey a lot shorter and safer for the local community. If you need a temporary fix for damaged walkways or anything else that you think Floating Pontoon Hire could assist with, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
